Our Programs:

In addition to the normal league play highlighted below, NSBA offers many supplementary programs to help build the skills of both our players and our coaches.  Below is a listing of some of the various programs we offer.

Program

Description

Winterball

Our indoor practice program held in January and February for Pinto,  Mustang and Bronco Players.  Winterball is open to non-NSBA players as space allows with priority to registered NSBA players first.

 Early Spring

Outdoor Camp

An outdoor skills camp for our Shetland, Pinto and Mustang players. This is a half-day clinic intended to get the cobwebs out and go over some of the basic skills. Players are separated by age levels and the cost is very inexpensive.

Spring Baseball

Shetland through Bronco

This is our regular season outdoor league play that runs March through mid June for Shetland through Bronco Leagues. Teams begin practicing in the first week of March with Game season kicked off with our Jamboree and Picture day typically the second Saturday in April. All teams play a short game and the atmosphere is very festive. A great day for all!

Spring Baseball

Pony Division

Our Pony teams start their game season a few weeks earlier around April first. They participate in a King county – South Snohomish county area league.  These games are scheduled so weekday games are short travel and weekend games are longer distance games. They typically play around 30 games and finish up the third week in June.

Spring Baseball

Colt and Palomino

This is our late start league play that runs May through July for Colt and Palomino. This late start allows focus on their High School team play first. There is a small overlap of the two seasons and we encourage the players to focus on the school team first. They then begin play with NSBA to continue their baseball experience as far into summer as coaches and players wish. There is tournament play and All Star options as well each year depending on player and coaches’ wishes.

89er Summer Ball

A program for 8 and 9 year olds intended to introduce them to "full baseball" at the Mustang Level.  It is a skills camp that focuses on the major differences between Pinto and Mustang baseball.  Pinto players and first year Mustang players are welcome. Open to non-nsba players as space allows. This is a good chance for players from other leagues to get a look at why real baseball is so much more fun.

Tournament Teams

These are teams for Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony Levels. Players who don’t play on the All Star teams who wish to continue playing on into the summer can join one of these Tournament Teams. In addition to being an option for our NSBA players these teams are open to non-NSBA players as well.

We will assemble as many teams as we have coaching volunteers and players for. Anyone interested in playing or coaching NSBA Tournament Teams should email Director of Summerball for application. It will help us if you contact him as early as you can preferably by May 1st.

NSBA will provide uniforms, two tournament entrance fees, and practice fields. Teams can play in as many tournaments as they wish with some teams playing into the fall. We encourage them to also pursue pick up games with other teams wherever possible.

Coaching prospects should contact our tournament director in early to mid spring for help with and information about arranging tournaments as some tournaments do fill up fast.

All-Star Teams

This is summer tournament play for our most highly skilled players. Open to NSBA players only. Any player may tryout, but not all players make the team. We form All Star Teams at Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony every year. Colt and Palomino All Star teams will be formed as players and coaches determine.

These teams will play in invitational tournaments as well as PONY sanctioned tournament play starting with Districts and as long as they keep winning can go all the way to the Pony World Series. They may continue to play in more invitational tournaments after being eliminated from sanctioned play.

Memorial Weekend in late May is generally the start of the All Star tournament season. Teams can play in as many tournaments as they wish with some teams playing well into the fall.

Players who don't make these teams should look into playing on one of our other Tournament Teams.

Coaches Clinics

NSBA sponsors several coaching clinics.  These clinics are generally held in February and March, just before practices start.  In addition to these clinics, we work hard to inform our coaches of clinics put on by other organizations such as the University of Washington baseball program.

Also, many or our supplementary programs are intended to introduce both players and coaches to new skills and drills.  We highly recommend that new coaches take part in Winterball, our Spring Outdoor Camp.

 Umpire Training

NSBA will train umpires aged 13 and older in how to umpire baseball games.  Once trained, a beginning umpire can make $20.00 or more per game. Top pay is currently $35.00 per game. If you would like to become an NSBA umpire, please contact the Umpire Coordinator for more information.
